visited Apple Ridge Farm I feel like they have a better understanding of

Summer
Camp takes place over an eight- or nine-week period each summer, and the

Career Focus and College Preparation.
For a bit of an idea of the camp's expectations, read our letter to new campers.

We
also look at setting goals, budgeting, resume writing and job searches.
One of the goals of our program is to involve each family in the
education and we hold an annual parent night to encourage this
involvement. Thanks to a partnership with the Elfun Society at Salem's General
Electric plant, we've placed over 40 computers in the homes of our
campers and Reading Adventure participants.

Each
summer we offer 3 to 4 of our teen-aged youngsters employment as Junior
Counselors. Ten to 15 younger children are also "employed" as
Junior Counselors-In-Training.
We feel that this taste of work experience not only gives our
children a chance to earn some money, increasing their self-esteem, but
also recycles our resources within the community we serve.
